The Plaza: Dubai’s New Cultural Beating Heart

DMCC unveils The Plaza, a 21,000-square-metre open-air events space at Uptown Dubai designed to host up to 4,000 guests. Anchored by 7 Management's curation, the venue launches with Moonlight Market during Ramadan.

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre has officially unveiled The Plaza – a landmark open-air events and entertainment destination that repositions Uptown Dubai as the city’s most dynamic gathering space. Spanning 21,000 square metres with capacity for up to 4,000 guests, this fully realised venue transforms how the city experiences culture, commerce and community.

Designed as a flexible, purpose-built platform, The Plaza emerges at the heart of Uptown’s mixed-use district. The sculptural open-air stage, 43-metre HD screen and expansive lawns create a versatile canvas for everything from live performances to seasonal markets and private events. Overlooking the JLT skyline, the space combines accessibility with scale – a venue engineered for both intimate gatherings and large-scale cultural moments.

A Curated Calendar of Experiences

Strategic operator 7 Management brings considerable pedigree to The Plaza’s programming. Known for creating some of the region’s most celebrated lifestyle and entertainment destinations, the operator will curate a year-round calendar reflecting Dubai’s evolving cultural energy. The venue’s launch coincides with Ramadan, when The Plaza transforms into Moonlight Market – an evening marketplace blending design, food, retail and live entertainment.

Operating daily from 6 PM to 2 AM throughout Ramadan, Moonlight Market offers residents and visitors a relaxed social environment. Food trucks, retail kiosks, open-air cinema under the stars, live mural painting and immersive art installations create a contemporary market atmosphere. The concept extends beyond the holy month, positioning The Plaza as a destination for seasonal activations and ongoing community experiences.

Positioning Uptown as Dubai’s Premier Venue District

The Plaza anchors the broader Uptown Dubai masterplan, which already includes Uptown Tower, The Atrium and SO/ Uptown Dubai Hotel & Residences. Additional commercial and residential projects are currently under construction, further reinforcing the district’s trajectory as a thriving hub for work, living and leisure.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, described the opening as a defining milestone: The Plaza marks the evolution of Uptown Dubai into a destination that brings people together through business, culture, and shared experiences. As we continue advancing the masterplan, The Plaza will activate the district and create a strong sense of place, supporting Dubai’s vision as one of the world’s best cities to live, work, and visit.

The venue’s ample parking, prime location and fully turnkey infrastructure position it as a destination designed for shared experiences that bring the city together – whether hosting international events or everyday community moments that define contemporary urban life.

Gulf family businesses rethink succession, manufacturing and legacy

Family business leaders gathered in Abu Dhabi for the second day of the Forbes Middle East Family Business Summit 2026, where the conversation moved well beyond preserving capital. Speakers challenged the long-held belief that family fortunes rarely survive three generations, urged enterprises to shift from distribution into domestic manufacturing, and set out how the next generation can reinvent a business without loosening its values. The message across the sessions was consistent: governance, early succession planning and industrial depth now decide which family enterprises keep growing across the Gulf.
