The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has demonstrated robust financial performance, with total assets reaching approximately $59.8 billion (OMR 23 billion) in 2025. This represents a substantial 12.8 per cent increase from the previous year’s $53.1 billion (OMR 20.4 billion), underscoring the entity’s continued strength amid an evolving global investment landscape.
The authority’s remarkable growth trajectory has been underpinned by strong investment returns, generating profits of nearly $7.8 billion (OMR 3 billion) throughout 2025. These gains reflect a return on investment of 14.6 per cent, demonstrating the OIA’s capability in navigating complex and volatile markets. By the end of 2025, the fund had successfully completed 24 exits, generating cumulative returns exceeding $7.3 billion (OMR 2.8 billion). These profits have been strategically reinvested into new projects, ensuring sustained portfolio expansion and economic impact.
The OIA’s asset distribution reveals a carefully balanced approach to wealth management. The National Development Portfolio accounts for 56 per cent of total assets, the Generations Portfolio represents 38 per cent, whilst the Oman Future Fund comprises the remaining 6 per cent. This allocation strategy reflects a long-term commitment to supporting both immediate economic priorities and future generations.
During 2025, the OIA contributed substantially to the Sultanate’s fiscal position, channelling $2 billion (OMR 800 million) directly to the state budget. Notably, half of this contribution—approximately $1 billion—was allocated to the Oman Future Fund, ensuring sustained resources for future economic initiatives. Additionally, approximately $5.2 billion (OMR 2 billion) has been directed into capital investments for local projects, reinforcing the fund’s commitment to domestic economic development.
The authority’s global reach remains a defining characteristic of its strategy. Investments are now distributed across more than 52 countries worldwide. Significantly, local investments continue to represent the largest share at 61 per cent of total investment, demonstrating the OIA’s commitment to supporting Oman’s economic diversification and long-term prosperity.
International expansion efforts have yielded noteworthy partnerships and acquisitions. In 2025, the OIA participated in investment rounds for Neuralink, billionaire Elon Musk’s technology company specialising in developing implantable computer chips designed to connect neural signals to digital systems. This venture reflects the fund’s strategic interest in frontier technologies with transformative potential.
The authority’s engagement in South Asian markets has proven particularly productive. The OIA established the $100 million Oman India Joint Investment Fund in partnership with the State Bank of India (SBI) in 2011, focusing on emerging sectors within the Indian economy. The two entities have since expanded their collaboration through a second fund, valued at $230 million, which operates across diverse sectors including automotive and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
European markets have also attracted significant OIA capital. In Türkiye, the fund established Türkiye Oman Investment (TOI) during 2025 in partnership with Turkish firm OYAK. This $500 million venture targets investment opportunities across both nations in sectors including energy, agriculture, and logistics—reflecting the authority’s commitment to regional economic integration.
The Oman Investment Authority’s trajectory reflects broader economic confidence in the Sultanate and the competence of its stewardship. Through prudent allocation, strategic exits, and global diversification, the OIA has positioned itself as a significant player in global capital markets whilst maintaining a robust commitment to local economic development. The authority’s performance in 2025 sets a solid foundation for continued expansion and wealth creation in the years ahead.
